As a child who also endured the summer workbooks, I must admit I personally retained a rather bitter memory of them, especially the famous "Passeport" and other "Nathan Vacances"—names that haunted children even 20 years ago.
However, now that I have children of my own, I understand the value of these summer workbooks.

Editions Rosace offers a very comprehensive and free summer workbook for ages 3 to 6. Very playful and 48 pages long, you will find reading, writing, calculation, and drawing activities, but also practical activities to do with your child, like simple recipes to prepare as a family.

Tête à modeler also offers summer activity workbooks for kindergarten. A bit lighter compared to the one from Éditions Rosace, they have the merit of being segmented into 3 levels.

This can be a great way to introduce your child to European geography and culture. (But needing to print nearly 60 color pages might discourage you.)
