Types of the Chinese Abacus

The abacus was already known in China 2,000 years ago, where it is called the suanpan.
The beads on the abacus were originally made of bone, then later bamboo, and finally plastic. The Chinese abacus has more beads than its Japanese counterpart: five instead of four on the lower deck, and two instead of one on the upper deck. Each row corresponds to a decimal unit.
